After a degree in Communication Sciences and a specialization in Neurolinguistic Programming, I began my career in training, dealing with the planning and classroom delivery of funded courses. I am currently the manager of the people development office of Elior Italia, within the HR division. My office takes care of 3 aspects of HR: selection (we manage the selection from operational to staff directly or in collaboration with partners), training (we take care of employee training, from onboarding to continuous training) and development (national and global staff development projects). I like to think that I follow the employee's path from the beginning (as I am among the first contacts during the selection phase) and throughout his life in the company with training and development plans.IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENTI believe that the soft skill that is becoming increasingly important is adaptability: markets and technology (I am thinking, for example, of AI) are changing faster and faster and it is essential to update your knowledge and skills to always be up to date. One way to promote and encourage adaptability is certainly training (especially experiential training, workshops, seminars), but we must also develop a corporate culture that promotes this soft skill by encouraging, for example, internal mobility. At Elior we have an internal job posting system that allows all employees to apply for open job positions.Training and development play a crucial role in improving employee engagement by fostering a culture of growth, enhancing skills and increasing job satisfaction in different ways: 1. Continuous learning opportunities help employees develop new skills and improve existing ones, making them feel more competent and confident in their roles. 2. Clear paths for career advancement through training programs motivate employees to stay with the organization and work towards their career goals. Investing in employee development shows that the organization cares about their growth, reducing turnover and increasing loyalty.To ensure training and development programs drive real impact, organizations must ensure that training programs are aligned with the company's strategic goals and objectives, so employees understand how their development contributes to the organization's success.
